Prevention of Asthma
Asthma is a condition that affects the respiratory system of a person.? When one has an attack, the airways swell and make air passage through them difficult.? As a result, asthma symptoms are felt and they include; wheezing, coughing, shortness of breath and tightness in the chest.? Asthma disease has no cure and thus prevention is the only sure way of controlling it.
Prevention of asthma is only possible if one understands the disease.? This is by coming to terms with the causes and triggers in one?s individual case.? One of the causes can? be a family history of asthma.? You will find that in families where asthma is more prevalent, the same happens down the generations.? Other causes of asthma include smoking viral infections, irritants at work places and weather conditions.? These causes can also be for adult onset asthma.? Allergies and eczema can also cause the condition.?
Triggers can either be animals, pollen, dust, exercise, sex, emotions, hormones, medication, molds, fungi and viral infections.? A trigger is anything that irritates the airwaves causing an attack.? There are unique to individual asthma cases.? When one realizes the triggers of asthma in their case, prevention can be done by avoiding the triggers.?
Other prevention measures are taking asthma medication before coming into contact with the triggers.? This is necessary if they cannot be avoided. This is especially important for exercise induced asthma.? The medication can be in syrup, tablets or inhaler form. Prevention of asthma should be a measure taken by governments the world over as the prevalence levels are rising each and every day. This is by providing adequate information and asthma medications.
