Indian markets are trading on a buoyant note inline with Asian peers. All sectoral indices are trading in green with oil & gas, realty and capital goods leading the space.
At 10.52 a.m., the Sensex was trading up 234.86 points or 1.37% at 17,432.79 with 26 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 71.40 points or 1.37% at 5,287.10 with 43 components gaining.
The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened with a gain of 115.12 points or 0.67% at 17,313.05, while the broad based NSE Nifty started with a rise of 45.15 points or 0.87%, at 5,260.85.
Sensex Movers
Reliance Industries contributed rise of 71.56 points in the Sensex. It was followed by I C I C I Bank (21.57 points), H D F C Bank (20.45 points), Larsen & Toubro (18.88 points) and Housing Development Finance Corporation (17.13 points).
However, Tata Consultancy Services contributed fall of 3.12 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Hindustan Unilever (0.72 points), Grasim Industries (0.05 points), Wipro (0.14 points) and I T C (0.33 points).
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Reliance Industries (4.52%), Tata Motors (2.87%), Tata Steel (2.66%), Larsen & Toubro (2.12%), Sterlite Industries (India) (2.06%), and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (1.71%).
On the other hand, Tata Consultancy Services (0.36%), Hindustan Unilever (0.12%), Coal India (0.10%), and Dr Reddy"s Laboratories (0.09%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Mid & Small-cap Space
The BSE Mid and small caps underperformed their larger counterparts gaining 1.08% and 1.36% respectively.The major gainers in the BSE Midcap were Aban Offshore (2.03%), Allcargo Logistics (1.78%), Alok Industries (1.27%), CORE Education and Technologies (0.5%) and A B G Shipyard (0.46%).The major gainers in the BSE Smallcap were Styrolution ABS (India) (4.6%), Trident (1.31%), A2Z Maintenance & Engineering Services (1.03%), Aanjaneya Lifecare (0.68%) and Aarti Industries (0.54%).
Sectors in Limelight
The Oil & Gas index was at 8,318.23, up by 212.11 points or by 2.62%. The major gainers were G A I L (India) (1.61%), Gujarat State Petronet (1.33%), Cairn India (1.26%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (0.59%) and Oil India (0.53%).
The Realty index was at 1,667.49, up by 29.15 points or by 1.78%. The major gainers were Anant Raj Industries (2.93%), Indiabulls Real Estate (2.74%), D L F (1.88%), D B Realty (1.72%) and Godrej Properties (0.2%).
The Capital Goods index was at 9,900.47, up by 163.17 points or by 1.68%. The major gainers were A B B (2.42%), Bharat Heavy Electricals (1.54%), BEML (1.02%), Havell"S India (0.9%) and Crompton Greaves (0.81%).
The Bankex index was at 12,027.03, up by 192.05 points or by 1.62%. The major gainers were H D F C Bank (1.52%), Bank Of India (1.37%), Canara Bank (1.34%), Bank Of Baroda (1.28%) and Federal Bank (1.05%).
Market Breadth
Market breadth was positive with 1,599 advances against 608 declines.
Value and Volume Toppers
Reliance Industries topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 497.79 million. It was followed by Reliance Industrial Infrastructure (Rs. 182.14 million), S K S Microfinance (Rs. 159.28 million) and State Bank Of India (Rs. 153.01 million).
The volume chart was led by Cals Refineries with trades of over 2.83 million shares. It was followed by S K S Microfinance (1.58 million), Spicejet (1.56 million) and Marmagoa Steels (1.24 million).
