Mexico City, March 12
Artists, including Mijares and Danna Paola, have recorded the song "Mensajero de la Paz" (Messenger of Peace) to welcome Pope Benedict XVI to Mexico later this month, the Mexican Bishops Conference said in a statement.
The song, which was composed by Carlos Lara, is "a song of love" to greet the pope on his arrival in Mexico, the Mexican Bishops Conference said.
"We expect that it will be a reference point for the Church and society in Mexico and Latin America to unite the links cordiality, solidarity and fraternity among families, neighbours and peoples, classmates and co-workers, and with all society in general, so that its words and music will open more and better paths, appropriate for peace, faith and hope," the statement said.
Sheyla, Peque?os Gigantes, Alexander Acha, Filippa Giordano and Prey also contributed their voices to the song.
Pope Benedict XVI plans to visit the central state of Guanajuato.
The pope will celebrate an open-air Mass in the morning March 25 at the city of Silao's Guanajuato Bicentenario Park, which can hold about 300,000 people.
The biggest crowds are expected for the pope's drives through Leon on the afternoon of March 23, when he will arrive in the city, and March 26, the day that he will leave for Santiago, Cuba.
Pope Benedict XVI is scheduled to stay at Leon's Colegio Miraflores during his visit to Mexico.
No details have been released on the route to be taken by the Popemobile during Benedict XVI's visit and officials have not said how many volunteers have been recruited to form the human wall planned along the route.
The Catholic Church has called for at least 75,000 young people to serve as volunteers in support tasks.
Pope Benedict XVI is scheduled to visit three cities in Guanajuato.
