Health & Fitness

Back pain can be severe or just a mild annoying twitch; however, it does strike millions of people each year. Even the most fit individuals among us can be subject to a backache from time to time. While most back pain is temporary, in some cases it can be long term and require medical treatment. Our goal with this report is to discuss a few of the reasons people are afflicted with back pain.

Being overweight has many health risks, and it turns out that back pain is one of them. Abdominal fat especially causes your body to become unbalanced, resulting on strain on your spine. So, it goes without saying, that the heavier you are the more strain and pain you are causing your back and spine. Needless to say, if you suffer from back pain, and you are overweight, it?s in your best interest to find a diet you can follow and shed the extra pounds. Exercise can be helpful, not only for losing weight, but for strengthening your back and abdomen so that you?re less likely to experience back pain. When it comes to reducing belly fat, the kind that?s most likely to cause back pain, it?s also essential to pay close attention to your daily diet.

Without realized them, there are other pertinent reasons for back pain that may arise within our everyday lives. As we all know the obvious ill effects that smoking can cause; it can also be the culprit for some back pain and other perils as well. That?s because smoking is harmful for circulation and even limits the amount of nutrients your organs and bones receive. Spinal degeneration is greatly affected by this down the road. The discs in your back are the base from which your vertebrae are located; without proper hydration these discs will not stay healthy. Dehydration is something we need to take heed of and make sure that our entire body is given the required amounts of water to maintain optimal health.

If you suffer from other illnesses, you may find that one of the side effects is back pain. Diabetes is a disease that can cause pain and discomfort in a number of areas, including the back. This is caused by the negative effect that diabetes has on the immune system. There are many nerve disorders ? called neuropathy ? that can occur with diabetes. This nerve damage ? neuropathy ? can strike many different areas, including your back. The easiest way to prevent neuropathy from developing, and causing pain, is to ensure that your blood glucose level is always within the range recommended by your doctor. Getting rid of your excess weight will not only help you control your diabetes but, as mentioned above, can help alleviate back pain due to stress on your spine.

With so many causes of back pain, it can be hard for even doctors to diagnose patients in every case. Perhaps you lifted a heavy box and the result was back pain. In that instance, it?s pretty easy to determine the cause for the pain. In other situations, the reason isn?t always as evident. The situations you can get into that may lead to back pain are many. We have only been able to touch on a few in this short article.
